Newsletter: “The” field guide of butterflies in Andalusia

The new Atlas of the diurnal butterflies of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas presents the butterflies of one of the most emblematic Spanish Natural Parks. This book is remarkable in many ways and was written by a team of very experienced Andalusian naturalists.

The more than 1,400 images covering 134 species are impressive, as can be expected in our age of modern photography, but their richness and completeness remain impressive. They speak for themselves and identifications are made much easier. The book covers the life cycles of each butterfly with systematic information on caterpillars, local host plants, flight periods and myrmecophilous relationships. Most of the data were recorded by the authors: incredible knowledge accumulated over the years.

Butterflies typical of the Sierra Nevada appear in the Segura…

This is the most up-to-date book on Andalusian butterflies and simply one of the best field guides I know. I can only advise you to order your copy as soon as possible, before it runs out.
