Circulars around Benarrabá
Thanks to its dense network of paths, the village of Benarrabá is ideal for planning a hiking vacation of several days in the Genal Valley, without having to take the car, such authentic mountain muleteers.
The Genal Footbridges
A walk along the Genal River with fun metal walkways that facilitate the way and at the same time give it more excitement. Finally, we will find the Prados de La Escribana and the ascent to the village of Benarrabá.
Genalguacil, Museum Village
He has become famous for his open-air sculpture exhibition in the same village and Museum of Contemporary Artboth fruits of the Encuentros de Arte del Valle del Genal.

The landscape route
The circular route Benarrabá – Algatocín allows to see the valleys of the Genal and Guadiaro. The excursion has variants and shortcuts very useful when it comes to adjusting desire and time to walk. The first variant of just over 5 km in length is simpler and shorter, up and down a very gentle slope and easy to walk; it becomes circular if we complete the itinerary by cutting or walking a few hundred meters along the road. The second variant is circular and longer, about 12 km long, adding a couple of not too demanding slopes. We will walk through La Dorsal, the small massif that separates the Genal and Guadiaro valleys. We will have the opportunity to discover and compare the landscapes of both valleys and the ridge, with its rocks and crags. We will have a glimpse of the distant mountains and we will go into the forest along an old path. This route very close to the villages allows us to know the past and present rural life of these enclaves.
The art route
Walking from Benarrabá to Genalguacil is a fantastic excursion in which we cross the Genal River at the height of the Prados de la Escribana. Downhill, uphill, delight in the village and again downhill and uphill. A total length of approximately 12 km with a little more than 800 meters of positive difference in altitude that takes us into an extensive cork forest, dotted with gall oaks and chestnut trees, a dense forest where cork is worked and harvested in the month of June. Genalguacil offers an ideal stop to regain strength halfway and to enjoy the more than 80 works of art exhibited in its streets. Surprising corners and alleys are filled with art and inspiration.
The route of the cherry trees
This circular route starts from Benaladid, a small white village in the Genal valley next to a medieval castle. The route is very easy to walk because of its slight slope, and very nice in the spring with the cherry trees are throwing the flower or even their succulent fruits. The Mataquince chestnut tree impresses with its large dimensions.

The footbridges of the Genal. Stretch of the river that can be incorporated in different excursions but of obligatory step to enjoy the valley.
Llanos del Rey. A simple trail with views over the village and variants for walking between one and three hours.
La Porta – El Concoste Short hike to discover the forest with its bucolic picnic area and variants: return by steep road or paved track.
Los Montes. A long hike on trails that explore the surroundings of the village.
