Hiking in the Genal Valley
The Copper Forest : large extensions of chestnut groves of the Genal Valley with ochre tones at the end of autumn. Ephemeral spectacle in which the slopes progressively change color before winter.
A route with variants
This is one of the best preserved landscapes in Andalusia. Wild fruits such as strawberry trees abound in the countryside. We will be able to learn about botany and taste edible fruits of the forest.
Chestnut trees
Chestnut trees are deciduous trees that lose their leaves in winter, contrasting with the Mediterranean forest of oaks and cork oaks. Before the leaves fall, all the foliage turns golden and coppery.
The “Copper Forest”.
Although the date varies depending on the year and the slopes, at some point in November, the Copper Forest is born, so striking in the Mediterranean for its colors that contrast with the leaves of oaks and cork oaks.
Difficulties of the route
Tourist institutions have given much publicity to this phenomenon and some routes have become very popular and even saturated. We propose routes that allow you to enjoy this natural spectacle in peace and quiet.

Tour variants and options
There are many chestnut groves in the Genal Valley. Therefore, we can visit some and others of its white villages, looking for attractive corners.
