A varied and complete circuit
Here is a magnificent ecotourism circuit where you can choose your stops according to your centers of interest. We will explore the back country of the Costa del Sol, a quiet and preserved area. It is another world that awaits you behind the mountains of Sierra Bermeja, quite fascinating for the richness of its landscapes, places to visit and all the Mediterranean nature.
Spanish fir forest
Only 8 km from the coast and with an altitude of 1,452 meters, Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja rises like a reddish mountain thanks to its unique peridotite rock. This unique enclave, benefited by frequent fogs, is home to a valuable relict forest of Spanish firs, a vestige of bygone times.
Genalguacil, the museum town
Lost in the Serrania de Ronda, this village is an open-air museum, with streets full of modern art and countless sculptures. The views are beautiful and after a short walk, you can discover a population of Atrapamoscas (Drosophylum lusitanicum), a carnivorous plant.
The Genal Valley
The beautiful Genal River crosses a rugged and lush landscape. The valley it forms is famous for its forests of chestnut, gall oaks and cork oaks. We will stop at Venta de San Juan and its walkways (hiking route) – Mirador de África and the Genal Valley Forest.
Back to Casares
If there is time, you can explore the Sierra del Hacho and the white village of Gaucín – Sierra Crestellina and the white village of Casares -Torcalde La Utrera – Río Manilva and the Baños de la Hedionda… and return to Estepona.
Tour variants and options
The circuit, of about one hundred kilometers, explores the most authentic Andalusia and can be easily extended in a two-day tour, even some more, with an overnight stay in the white villages of Benarrabá or Gaucín. This option undoubtedly allows you to get to know the territory more extensively.
