"Andalusian" Small buttonquail officially declared extinct in Spain

The so called “Andalusian” Buttonquail (Turnix sylvaticus sylvaticus) is officially no longer present in Europe. Its last records are already decades old: Huelva (1981) and Sicily (1920). Only tiny populations still exist in the Maghreb. The species is still widespread with numerous subspecies present in Africa and Asia.
