What a great surprise to discover the appearance of the G3 guides website in a philology study published by the University of Almeria. There are days like this … that give pleasure.

We are talking about the article Représentations interculturelles dans le discours touristique des Blogs de voyages français: une vision de l’Andalousie stéréotypée? recently published in Anales de Filología Francesa, 2021, 29: 75-97, by María Loreto Cantón Rodríguez, Professor at the University of Almería and author of a doctoral thesis on the work of J.M.G. Le Clézio, whose specialty is contemporary French literature and the study of tourism and agriculture lexicons.
Literary tradition of travel books
This study is part of the long literary tradition of travel books on Andalusia as an exotic destination for 19th century romantic travelers, and of the academic analysis that follows … on the gaze of these travelers on Andalusian society. Several reference works on the subject: El viaje a España: Antología de viajeros franceses y francófonos del siglo XVI al XIX (Bennassar and Bennassar (1998) as well as the two volumes of Estudios contemporáneos sobre los viajeros y las viajeras del siglo XIX francófonos, by the University of Seville.

What a pleasure and pride … modern travel blogs as worthy successors of Dumas, Mérimée and Gautier! Let us be humble and revere our predecessors, whose literary quality obviously surpasses us.
10 travel blogs about Andalusia
The article analyzes a sample of 10 travel blogs about Andalusia, among which the author has done us the honor of selecting the g3-guides website. We are very grateful for the comments on our website, which is nothing more than the fruit of studying the region for two decades. Maria Loreto -whom we do not know at all- pleases us by describing a blog …
… “which attracts a lot of attention from visitors with its innovations in ecological tourism”. “This is the blog with a different image of the Andalusian region. Nature takes its place and the excursions offered are totally different. A great site for lovers of nature activities”. M. L. Canton Rodriguez, Professor, University of Almeria
Si la Universidad lo dice, será cierto. 😉

Shortage of blogs covering Andalusia as a whole.
As expected, the purpose of the blogs seems to attract attention and awaken the desire to travel to discover the region.
The most curious point: the author shows the relative scarcity of blogs covering Andalusia and the greater treatment reserved for the cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba.
The new ideas conveyed by our vision of ecotourism appealed to him positively, in particular our commitment to the environment and a quality approach.

To go further and discover the popular culture of Andalusia, I suggest you to get to know the Andalusian stereotypes through its own inhabitants. A compilation that smiles and goes into details that you will not find in any other French-language blog.
We also recommend the excellent film Vengo by Tony Gatlif, which offers us a trip to the heart of Andalusia, between fantasy and reality.
