We offer a classic route of the white villages that brings back the XIX Century Andalusia  dreamed by romantic travellers. We explain the special landscapes, species and geological features, and comment on the customs of rural southern Spain.

A very enjoyable ecotour that bring great memories. We will drive the countryside and stop at viewpoints and visit three white villages.

SETENIL DE LAS BODEGAS

A peculiar settlement of troglodyte houses set on the banks of a stream. The sedimentary bedrock similar to Ronda’s Gash have been eroded and turned into a canyon. A pleasant walk allow to explore the village and enjoy wildlife. Numbers of urban birds, swallows, house martins, swifts and lesser kestrels, are exceptional can easily be seen.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA

A fortress of strategic importance during the Middle Ages because of its situation between Christian Seville and Muslim Ronda. The castle tower offers magnificent views over the surroundings and a picturesque reservoir. The climb crosses Mediterranean species-rich habitats where interesting plants and butterflies can be seen.

GRAZALEMA

Very popular village for ecotourism activities in Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. Walking through its streets is very pleasant and a natural balcony offers beautiful views over the Serranía de Ronda. The ideal place for watching griffon vultures and other cliff birds. Planted trees of the famous endemic Spanish firs can bee seen in the village.

On the way back to Ronda, we will cross an attractive mixed pasture oak forest, a source of inspiration for numerous artists.

We should plan the midday lunch in Zahara, either a picnic or at a small restaurant, to enjoy a rest and the wonderful views. For centuries, travelers stopped at the village in their way between Sevilla and Ronda.
