The recently published Atlas de las mariposas diurnas de las Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas presents the butterflies of one of the most iconic Spanish Natural Parks. This book is remarkable in many ways and was authored by a team of very experienced and complementary Andalusian naturalists.
The more than 1.400 pictures covering 134 species are stunning as you can expect in our era of modern photography, but their wealth and exhaustivity is still impressive. They speak for themselves and identifications are greatly eased. The life cycles for each butterfly set apart this field guide, with systematic information on caterpillars, local host plants, flight periods and myrmecophilous relations. Most data were recorded by the authors illustrating the incredible knowledge accumulated throughout the years.
Many Sierra Nevada specialties are also found in the Segura region.
This is the most up to date book on Andalusian butterflies and simply one of the best field guides I know of. I can only advise you to order your copy soon before it gets out of print.
