The Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus)
The lynx is the emblem of nature in the Iberian Peninsula. The mammal and raptor populations of Sierra Morena attract nature watchers like a magnet. The Sierra de Andújar has gained worldwide fame in the last decade for being one of the few places on the planet where it is reasonably feasible to observe a lynx in the wild. This safari offers great opportunities for nature photography.
Andújar Mountains
The Sierra de Andújar is part of the Sierra Morena, the long granite chain that separates Andalusia from the rest of Spain, well known for its dense mammal populations. Sightings of large herbivores and scavenger birds are guaranteed.
Sighting periods
We will visit the park during the best time to observe the Iberian lynx, between December and February, when the cats are in heat and are most active. Note the lynx are sighted throughout the year, in family groups after the births in early spring.
Private estate / photographic hides
The park is mostly in the hands of private owners. We offer the possibility of hiring the entrance in private lands that allow you to enjoy more tranquility and good conditions for the observation of the lynxes.
Jándula River
We will explore the banks of the Jándula where otters await us, if luck smiles on us. The diversity of birds and plants of the Mediterranean scrubland is also exceptional, although the vegetation is very fast growing.

Tour variants and options
We work on a tailor-made basis, we will contact you to discuss the development of your stay. Perhaps more than other tours we offer, it is important to know your priority between observation (by ground telescope) and photography (expectation of a close observation).
Watching the lynx is a privilege, so we must foremost enjoy their natural habitats and the fauna that accompanies them (Imperial Eagle, Black Vulture, Azure-winged Magpie, etc.).
In winter, the tour coincides with the season of wintering waterfowl and amphibian reproduction. The tour combines with the exploration of wetlands of international importance such as Doñana (Seville) or Fuente de Piedras (Malaga).
The “plus”. The landscapes with crags and granite balls. Simply one of the best wildlife watching trips in Europe.
