Ronda, the dream city and a must for travelers with the landscapes of La Serrania and especially the geology that allows us to review the history of the earth as an open book. The fortress city built on a large cliff offers panoramic views of the Serrania de Ronda and on the traditional agricultural crops of the environment, old mills and mule trails.
A route with variants
A route in the shape of an “8”, with time to adapt the pace. We will cross the three bridges over the Guadalevín River and pass in front of the important historical monuments of the city of Ronda. We will enjoy the beautiful scenery and explore the surrounding countryside extensively.
The Tajo de Ronda
On the corner of the street is the most famous geological feature of Spain, the “Monumento Natural Tajo de Ronda” and its Puente Nuevo. The red-billed choughs delight the observers. We will descend along a beautiful path that winds through a hill covered with almond trees and descends to the river that has carved the canyon of the Tajo.
Rural Andalusia
At this point we leave the traditional route to complete a circular route that explores a rural and unusual Ronda. Together we will discover the Mediterranean vegetation and the cultivated plants of the Andalusian countryside.
This is one of the best preserved landscapes in Andalusia.
Difficulties of the route
We will finish in the magnificent Alameda Park, an ideal place where the memory of the most important botanists in the history of Andalusia is commemorated.
