Walking Gaucin’s Sierra del Hacho
Region
Spain / Andalusia
Meeting point
Gaucín
Specialized service
Small parties
A very nice route of 13 kilometers of longitude and 500 meters of elevation that mixes several classic hiking trails in the municipality of Gaucín.
Landscape: castle overlooking the village of Gaucín and the Sierra Bermeja
As always in the Serranía de Ronda, superb landscapes and biodiversity are there with sumptuous views of the village of Gaucín and the Sierra Bermeja.
Ideal hike for seniors and families
It is not for nothing that this region is considered one of the most interesting for mid-mountain hiking in all of Spain. Ideal for seniors and families.
Biodiversity in the Sierra del Hacho
In the first part of the route, we will explore the slopes of El Hacho de Gaucín peak, where butterflies and wildflowers abound. If we are lucky, the flowering of peonies is exceptional in its density.
Mediterranean oak forest
In the second part, we will enter the public forest made up of Cork oaks, Holm oaks and Portuguese oaks, with sections of very pleasant trails and a waterfall as ephemeral as it is bucolic (Arroyo Carboneras).
Hiking in Andalusia
Two small difficulties to note on this route: the first that we avoid by default, since we generally ignore the frankly steep slope that leaves the main path in order to climb to the geodesic point. The second is a very small metal ladder which allows you to go over a barrier and which does not pose a problem even for beginner hikers.
We have adapted an itinerary to select the best of hiking in Gaucín.
